Franklin United Football Club
Franklin United Football Club was established in 2016 with the vision to create a sustainable pathway to the top level for all football players, coaches and referees within the Franklin community. The club lies across Drury to Mercer and Waiuku to Bombay. The club works closely with feeder clubs in the district to offer pathways for its members and helps in keeping the talent in the area. In the past, these top players headed into inner Auckland clubs to reach their potential.
The club has visited schools in the local Franklin area to deliver the NZ Football 5+ Programme. This has been made possible through Kiwisport funding. This has been a huge boost to the sport enabling us to get in front of hundreds of children and showcasing our sport. Over the past two years the club has fielded three teams – Seniors, Senior Reserves and U19’s. It is now creating an even greater platform to help bring younger players through by launching an academy which will be known as Franklin United Youth Academy (FUYA). This academy will draw up to another 100 young talented players into the club.
Franklin United Football Academy (FUYA)
In 2018 Franklin United will launch FUYA (Franklin United Youth Academy). The Academy is targeting top players in the age groups 11-17 years old. The Academy will select one team from each age group and this team will play under Franklin United for 2018. The teams will play in the regular AFF competitions, aiming for a spot in either the Metro or Championship Divisions. Franklin United has appointed a full-time Director of Football, Ben Fletcher, who will oversee the Academy and work with the coaches to deliver the Academy programme.
